"Lets Start Jewellery Making!"
Relax and Create here at The Bead Trail

Our "Let's Start Jewellery Making" courses are designed with beginners in mind. Each class concentrates on a particular technique/product and you will be guided through the design and production stage by a member of our team. During the lesson you will also be given tips and ideas to help you expand your jewellery making skills and continue to create at home. You are welcome to book just the classes you are interested in or if you wish you can book the full five classes and receive a discount of 10% at time of booking.

Classes last approximately 2 hours.
Week One
Stringing & Crimping with Beading Wire

Create a pretty floating necklace and matching bracelet using Czech glass beads. Learn about nylon coated wire and two finishing techniques.

Memory Wire

Make a memory wire wrap bracelet, learn about other uses for memory wire such as wine glass charms, napkin rings and necklaces.

Stinging with Cord and Necklace Ends

Learn how to attach clasps to bead cord to create a simple but effective necklace. This is a handy technique for re-stringing old necklaces.

Eyepins, Headpins and Jump Rings

This week's class introduces the use of tools to create loops on Headpins and Eyepins and how to correctly open and close Jump rings. Use these techniques to make earrings, necklaces, bracelets etc.

Wire Work

Make a twisted wire and cord necklace, you will learn a twisted wire technique and also how to use cord ends.

Samples of the finished items are on display in our shop at Blakemere Craft Centre.
All courses during January start at 11am and finish about 1.30pm.
From February onwards classes will start at 10.30am
Materials are included in the price and colour choices will be available on the day.
We also offer a range of beadweaving classes if you are looking for something more intricate.

Polymer Clay Kaleidoscope beads - Janice Cooper
level - Beginner

In this workshop you will learn how to make kaleidoscope cane which can be used to decorate beads, pendants etc. If you wish, you may make enough beads at the class for a necklet to string at home, or you may wish to make a pendant and perhaps some earrings. Alternatively you can take your canes home for use in other projects.

Workshop requirements
Fimo
¾ block of main colour
¼ block each of 5 contrasting colours

If you do not have your own, a kit containing Fimo will be available at a cost of £5.
Spacer beads can be purchased from The Bead Trail if required.

Tissue blade and/or craft knife
Needle tool

Janice will lend tiles, needle tools, tissue blades, craft knives and plastic rollers.
she will have 2 pasta machines and some tissue blades for you to use, but if you have your own, please bring them along.

In this workshop we will concentrate on techniques only. We will produce a quantity of faux turquoise and also faux rose quartz for you to make into beads etc. afterwards at home. The workshop therefore is aimed at anyone with a basic knowledge of polymer clay and the confidence to finish individual projects at home

Learn the basic techniques of chain maille, together with some introductory weaves, and use anodized aluminium rings to bring colour to your creations.
